CUPERTINO - It was under Steve Jobs' watch that the computer-animation studio, Pixar, gave us some of its early blockbusters, starting with the original "Toy Story."
Jobs had bought Pixar from George Lucas for $10 million. At first, Pixar seemed like a bottomless money pit. Then in 1995 came "Toy Story." It was the first computer-animated full-length feature.
Jobs used "Toy Story's" success to negotiate a deal with Disney for Pixar's next two films, "A Bug's Life" and "Toy Story 2." In 2006, Jobs sold Pixar to The Walt Disney Company for $7.4 billion in stock.
That made him Disney's largest individual shareholder and it secured a seat for him on the board of directors.
Steve Jobs died Wednesday at the age of 56.
