INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Indiana State Representative Tim Brown suffered serious injuries during a motorcycle crash in Northern Michigan Wednesday morning.
House Speak Brian Bosma said Brown was riding on his motorcycle with State Rep. Mike Speedy when he struck an SUV that pulled out in front of them.
Rep. Speedy was able to avoid the vehicle and was not injured.
Speaker Bosma released the following statement regarding the crash:
"Tim is an invaluable member of our leadership team, a dedicated public servant and one of my most cherished friends. Our prayers are with him, his family and Rep. Speedy."
Senate President Pro Tem David Long has also issued a statement:
"Dr. Brown is a remarkable man and beloved public servant, and I am very sad to hear the news that he has been involved in an accident. I hope Hoosiers will join me in offering thoughts and prayers of healing for Tim and strength for his family during this difficult time."
Senate Minority Leader Tim Lanane issued the following statement:
"I am saddened to hear the very concerning news that one of my most respected colleagues, Representative Tim Brown, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident today. We are relieved to hear that Representative Mike Speedy, who was traveling with him, was not injured. All of our thoughts and prayers are with Representative Brown and his family as we hope for his full recovery."
Brown's district covers portions of Montgomery, Boone and Tippecanoe counties.
