South side teen starts free grocery delivery service during coronavirus pandemic

A senior at Center Grove High School has created a free grocery delivery service to help out those during the coronavirus pandemic.

GREENWOOD, Ind. (WTHR) — Meet Dylan Godsave: a senior at Center Grove High School who started his own grocery delivery service called South Side Delivers — and it's free of charge.

“I think that we just found a huge outpouring for this need in our community,” Godsave said. “From there, we just realized that we had all the resources to really do this and make a difference and so we just kind of started working, and we were able to make this happen.”

Godsave made it happen quickly by creating his website in less than 24 hours.

Through South Side Delivers, around 20 high school and college students are making food deliveries to people in Greenwood who don’t want to head out because of the stay-at-home orders during the coronavirus pandemic.

“When we were first developing this site, we started thinking about all those small businesses that have also lost a lot of their traffic because of all of this," Godsave said. "So, we teamed up with them, and we put some of their products on our website, which we're also delivering to people. Those local businesses are giving some of the money of their products back to us to be able to run this website, so it's just really a win-win for everyone.”

Did we mention this is totally free for Greenwood residents? It’s quickly becoming one of the most talked about food delivery services on the south side because it’s helping local businesses.

“I think that we're giving back, with the resources that we have,” Godsave said. “Of course, I feel like in these times, everyone wants to help, but they just don't know how they can help. That's really when we just say we shave the resources and infrastructure, and we can apply them to the greater good of our community.”

And if you think Godsave sounds mature for his age, you’re not alone.

“Yeah, I get that a lot,” Dylan said. "There's a running joke in my school that I'm an undercover agent.”
