INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The parents of a slain Indianapolis police officer took part in a walk encouraging organ donations with a man who received their son's transplanted lungs.

Lance Lewis suffered from a genetic lung disease that causes emphysema. The 54-year-old Indianapolis man underwent the double-lung transplant four days after Officer David Moore was fatally shot during a traffic stop in January.

Lewis is one of seven people who received Moore's organs, including his heart, liver, corneas and kidneys.

Jo Moore said at a news conference Sunday that when she met Lewis, she hugged him and was glad to know she was hugging her son's lungs.

Spencer and Jo Moore then joined Lewis and about 200 people for an Indiana Organ Procurement Organization fundraising walk along the downtown Indianapolis canal.
