DELPHI, Ind. — Police in Carroll County are investigating a crash that claimed one life.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday on County Road 700 North just east of County Road 900 West, which is about five miles northwest of Delphi.
Police said the driver and only occupant of the car had been going west on 700 North at a high rate of speed. The driver apparently lost control of the car and crashed.
Rodney Lucas of Monticello was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said witnesses told officers they had seen the 50-year-old Lucas driving erratically prior to the crash.
The sheriff's department said alcohol, speed and failure to use seat belts were being investigated as factors in the crash.
