INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Several Indiana State Police officers were honored Friday for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Trooper Joseph Malone received the Trooper of the Year award. It's only his 2nd year on the job.
"This is not just a job, this is a career," he said. "I wake up every morning and I am excited to hop in my commission and serve the citizens of Indiana."
In 2017, during his first week as a rookie, Trooper Malone saved a woman from being raped after she was allegedly abducted by a man she met online.
ISP also recognized Senior Trooper Clint Hetrick, who helped solve cold case murder of 8-year-old April Tinsley.
