INDIANAPOLIS โ This month, Indianapolis' Office of Public Health and Safety will host several holiday food distributions to make sure every family has a meal. The department will team up with different community outreach groups for their distributions.
Every location is free, and no registration is required. Families will be able to get fresh produce, holiday meal staples and treats.
At Kings & Priests Ministries Tuesday, volunteers were able to give 300 families a holiday meal bag within the first hour.
"When we started packing things down and putting it together, I started thinking this is amazing, where all we have to do is come together," Pastor Jeffrey Thomas II said. "We are taking away the struggle and the strain this year."
Thomas said he hopes people are inspired by these distributions to help others this holiday season.
"This holiday season, let's continue to give, even on the level that you have," he said. "You may just have a little bit of time just to shake someone's hand, and just see how they are doing, gratitude is shown in many different ways."
