HAMMOND, Ind. — Indiana Conservation Officers confirmed the bodies of two men have been recovered one week after they went missing in the waters of Lake Michigan in northwestern Indiana.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said the bodies were located approximately 1.5 miles from where they were last seen.
Around 2:40 p.m. July 5, officers began their search after responding to a report that two people were missing from their boat near Hammond.
Officials found the boat they were on about two and a half miles from the shore of Whiting and learned there was another man missing but wearing a life jacket. That man was later found by the U.S. Coast Guard and taken to a hospital, where he has already been released.
Weather conditions in the area slowed the search due to strong winds causing high waves.
