Scammers using Fishers police officer's name to steal money

The scammer will reportedly threaten to send an officer to your home if you do not adhere to their demands.

FISHERS, Ind. — Scammers are getting more creative in stealing innocent peoples' money in a new wave of scams sweeping across the nation.

The Fishers Police Department is warning locals of a scam that calls residents claiming to be one of FPD's officers. It uses the officer's real name and claims there is an urgent matter that you need to provide your personal information and payment.

If you do not comply, the scammer will threaten to send an officer to your home. FPD wants to reassure everyone they it would never request payment over the phone and reminds everyone to never give out personal information to a stranger.
