Saturday's Supercross event will bring virtual reality to Lucas Oil

Scott Swan got to virtually experience what it's like to ride a Supercross motorcycle.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The "Monster Energy Supercross" takes over Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday.

The turf at Lucas Oil will be replaced with a dirt track with a premiere off-road motorcycle track.

But this year there's an added layer to the race.

Those who attend the event can experience it all for themselves with virtual reality.

Alex Moroz brought the "S-X-V-R Experience" to WTHR's studio today so Scott Swan could ride a 450 Yamaha and get the true experience.

"You're going to see what our riders see," Moroz told Swan.

"Wow you really have a feel for the speed on this thing," Swan said with the VR goggles on.

For those who can't wait until Saturday to get in on the "VR" action, there will be a community preview starting 11 a.m. at Monument Circle on Thursday, March, 22.

The qualifying event for the Supercross starts at 11:30 a.m. on March 24 with the official race kicking off at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster or supercrosslive.com.
