Sahm's Tavern and Sports Bar coming to Irvington this year

The restaurant and bar is taking over the former Scarlet Lane and Black Acre location along Washington Street.

INDIANAPOLIS — Sahm's Tavern and Sports Bar is hoping to open this fall in Irvington.

They are taking over the location recently vacated by Scarlet Lane and Black Acre.

The plan is to open Oct. 1 with a full bar for cocktails, wine and Sahm's Big Lug lineup.

There will be sports and beer memorabilia collected during the 36 years that Sahm's has been in business.

In a post on Facebook, Eddie Sahm talked about closing the downtown location that they had loved. He said they had planned to reopen in an area that would appreciate a locally-owned business and community focus.

"Well, Irvington embodies that as much – if not more than – every neighborhood in Indianapolis," Sahm said in the post. "We had been talking about an opportunity there for a few years, and we’re waiting for something like this. Ed has always tried to open in existing local spots where we would continue on what they started, and this will be no different."

Sahm acknowledged there is a lot of work ahead before the opening.

"We’ve never had a better crew than we have today," Sahm said. "I’m excited to see what we can get done and bring to the neighborhood."
