Ethiopian Alene Reta is the winner of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, and Sarah Kiptoo from Kenya was the women's winner in the 37th running of the event.
The winner of the 2013 Mini-Marathon wheelchair division was South African Krige Schabort from Cedartown, Georgia.
Forecast
The rain held off for the Mini, with cool temperatures in the 50s at the start of the race.
An area of low pressure is going to track south of Indiana this weekend. That will give us cloudy skies with highs in the mid 60s. We'll also have a slight chance for a few showers with the heaviest rain falling south of I-70. Up to a half-inch of rain is possible.
Security
Some 35,000 runners and walkers participated in the Mini, which is the country's largest half-marathon. The Mini is a sellout this year, as it has been for the past 11 years.
The Boston Marathon bombings prompted Mini officials to increase security measures. For the first time, runners will not be allowed to take their own bags onto the race course. All participants will be given plastic bags to stash their belongings.
The course for the Mini-Marathon begins near the intersection of Washington and West streets, heads west toward the Indianapolis Motor Speedway along Michigan Street and does a complete lap around the 2.5 mile track before heading back down New York Street to the finish line.
