A North Fort Myers woman was jailed after deputies say she robbed a teen who hired her as an escort.

Charlotte County deputies said Kimberly Brown, 25, teamed up with a man who held the student at gunpoint and robbed him of $180, a silver pentagram ring, a Slipknot name wallet and his prom ticket.

The victim, 18-year-old Austin Young, said hiring an escort online was a mistake and came from a low in life.

"Doesn't feel right living at home with mom all by yourself, you know ... you think no one likes you," he said.

Young hired Brown through backpage.com, and Brown agreed to pick him up at his home after they settled on a $180 fee.

But the decision to do something illegal almost cost him his life.

"We got to a secluded area and a complete stranger that I had no idea was there jumped out of the back of the car and put some kind of solid object to the back of my head. It felt like a gun."

"What did I get myself into?" Young added. "Like, dude, you should've stayed home."

He said his mistake has taught him a thing or two about life.

"Gotta let that be a lesson. Whenever something in the back of your head tells you not to do something, it's best not to do it. No matter how tempting it is."

He offers some newfound advice to those feeling the way he did.

"Find enjoyment in the little things in life. Don't think you need sex or drugs or whatever it is you need to get through life, just find happiness in the little things."

Young graduated from Lemon Bay High School on Friday and said he's excited to move on.

Brown, meanwhile, is charged with felony armed robbery.
