INDIANAPOLIS — There are just a few more days to donate to Riley Hospital's current giving campaign.
The year-end fundraiser supports families receiving critical care at Riley Hospital for Children.
Families like the Jennings, who are now using their platform to give back.
You can usually find high school sophomore Joshua Jennings in the gym, prepping for his next powerlifting competition.
He holds seven state records and one world record.
You'd probably never guess his biggest victory yet is defeating leukemia.
Josh was diagnosed in February 2014 when was a kindergartner.
He and his family made the trip to Riley from Terre Haute often. Playing youth sports helped him get through three tough years of treatment.
But being called a Riley Champion means more to him than any trophy.
To me it's, I guess, it's nice knowing that you're becoming an inspiration for others and, you know, giving people more hope," Josh said.
Being a Riley Champion means Josh and his family are being recognized for their work to give back to others who are now in their shoes.
After Josh rang the bell to celebrate the end of treatment, his elementary school hosted a celebration and raised $1,200 for Riley
And because the Jennings know what it's like to be supported by family, friends and even strangers, it's now about paying it forward, so other families don't have to carry the weight alone.
The current giving campaign continues until Dec. 31. You can learn more about charitable donations to Riley by clicking here.
