CHICAGO – John Edwards' mistress has told Oprah Winfrey that she doesn't believe she broke up the former presidential candidate's marriage with Elizabeth Edwards.

Rielle Hunter said on Thursday's episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" that she does "not believe (she) wrecked his home."

John Edwards admitted in January that he and Hunter have a 2-year-old daughter after initially denying it. He and Elizabeth Edwards are now separated.

Hunter told Winfrey that people bought into the myth that she had destroyed the Edwards' "perfect and so wonderful" marriage.

Hunter's appearance on Winfrey's show is her first televised interview since John Edwards first admitted two years ago that the two had an affair.

Watch Oprah at 4:00 pm on WTHR-TV.
