Richard joined WTHR in February 2004 as a freelance reporter. He joined the staff full time in May of that year, working on the assignment desk and waiting for an opportunity to get back out in the field full time. He joined the reporting staff in March of 2007.
Before coming to WTHR, Richard was the "On Your Side" consumer/investigative reporter at WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky. He also worked in Terre Haute and Shreveport, Louisiana. He started his television career as a weekend weather anchor in Alexandria, Louisiana. In addition to a number of years working in news radio, he also brings a unique perspective to his job having worked as a contractor in excavation and home remodeling.
Richard is a native Hoosier, born and raised in Zionsville. He studied English Literature at Indiana University.
Richard and his wife have two children and two dogs. Coming back home to Indianapolis has been a dream of his and he is "thrilled to be part of the WTHR family."
