Rev Indy takes center stage at IMS

Rev Indy took over the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday night.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Rev Indy took over the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday night.

It's one of the hottest tickets leading up to the Indy 500.

Race car drivers, celebrities and some of the fine folks from Indianapolis got to walk the red carpet and all of the money raised goes to the IU Health Foundation, which provides all of the medical services for fans and drivers at the track.

The doctors at IU Health Methodist Hospital helped save James Hinchcliffe's life after a crash at IMS in 2015.

"Without IU Health and the people who had their hands on me that day. I would not have been here. I was literally minutes away from not making it through that whole thing and it was a lot of people making a lot of good decisions and putting great training into work," Hinchcliffe said Saturday night.

"Whether it be a case like Hinch's, we've all experienced it, we've all witnessed it and so you know you always want to have the best docs around to support you," said IndyCar driver Graham Rahal, who served as chairman of the night's festivities.

The night also featured food from local and celebrity chefs and live music under the pagoda at IMS.
