WESTFIELD, Ind. (WTHR) - Firefighters responded to a Westfield retirement community Thursday when flood waters entered resident rooms.
Crews were called to Sanders Glen Retirement Community, 334 S Cherry St. just before 7:00 pm.
Rain had caused a creek behind the facility to overflow its banks and water had entered the building.
When firefighters arrived, there was over four inches of water in places around the building and some two inches of water in at least 5 resident rooms.
Staff moved the affected residents to other parts of the facility.
The fire department pumped the water out of the building and placed sandbags in spots to prevent a recurrence.
No one was injured.
