As we get closer to the May 3 primary, the most interesting congressional race in Indiana is in the 9th District.

You've no doubt seen the commercials.

At 32 years of age, Trey Hollingsworth has mounted an impressive campaign. The millionaire businessman and his father have spent a million dollars trying to win the seat.

It has his competitors wondering if the seat is up for sale and they are being priced right out of the market, but that is not all.

"He claims to be a Jeffersonville businessman. You would never know he's only lived here since September of last year and filed to run for Congress in October and has spent $1.5 million trying to buy a congressional seat," State Senator Erin Houchin said.

She and Hollingsworth are two of the five GOP candidates currently vying for the nomination for that seat. For his part, Hollingsworth acknowledges his wealth and argues against what he calls "career politicians."

"I have partnered with Hoosiers to create companies, my customers are Hoosiers, my vendors are Hoosiers, my friends are Hoosiers, my family members are Hoosiers. I am a proud Hoosier," Hollingsworth declared.

"I don't begrudge anybody who wants to run for office. Mr. Hollingsworth had plenty of opportunities to run for Congress in Tennessee," Houchin countered.

But Hollingsworth chose Indiana and now it will be up to the voters to decide who they want to send to Washington in the 9th Congressional District.
