PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. — A Putnam County resident is recovering after being injured by two bears Tuesday.
The sheriff’s department said deputies responded to a home near Clinton Falls Oct. 24 on a report of two bears on the loose.
Deputies said the bears were still inside a fenced-in area, but they were concerned the bears could easily climb over the fence and escape.
Officers got a tranquilizer gun and doses of tranquilizer from a local veterinarian.
Deputies said the bears returned to their home area, and the tranquilizer gun was not needed.
Deputies said the bears are now being cared for by a local exotic animal expert.
Medics transported the injured person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
