INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The entertainment community is mourning the loss of a popular DJ.
DJ Skrill died Monday night at an Indianapolis hospital after suffering a seizure at home, according his wife Iesha. The 39-year-old, whose legal name is Jerry Vaughn Jr., created a big following in Indianapolis providing music in venues all across the city.
According to his wife, Vaughn had been a DJ since he was 19 years old and got his name and his big start from former WTLC radio personality Marcus Wain.
In 2014, Vaughn suffered a traumatic brain injury as the result of a car accident and began battling bouts of headaches and seizures.
He is survived by five children ages 2 to 20, and his parents. His father Jerry Vaughn Sr. is a local minister.
"DJ Skrill" would have celebrated his fifth wedding anniversary on August 25.
