INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Metro Police have released pictures of two persons of interest in a shooting that left a Warren Central student dead and two others injured.

Police are looking for these two suspects in connection with the fatal May 6 shooting.

One of the people police want to question is described as a Hispanic male with dark hair, who was wearing a white hoodie, blue coat with white stripes down the sleeves, black pants and white flip-flops.

The other man, who also may be Hispanic, was wearing a dark blue or black "GAP" hoodie with a red shirt, black pants and black and white sneakers.

The two men were last seen running west, then south, around the west end of the strip mall where the shooting occurred on May 6.

If you have information about these men or where police can find them, call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.

Friends, family mourn loss

The kicker for the Warren Central High School football team lost his best friend in the shooting.

"I am really heartbroken," said Jason Ramirez.

Ramirez broke down in tears talking about his best friend, Angel Mejia, who was fatally hit in a shooting that injured two other students. Jason shared photos with Eyewitness News of Angel, including pictures from their childhood. They've been best friends since the age of three.

Ramirez, who is now 17, said, "Angel was funny. Everything about him was funny like. He would always bring a smile to your face."

Jason Ramirez talks to Steve Jefferson about his lost friend, Angel Mejia.

Warren Central teammate Darius Moore was also shot. He is in the hospital and was upgraded to stable condition early Sunday morning.

Moore suffered major injuries, according to police, just like fellow football player Dijon Anderson. Anderson is also in stable condition at last check.

The shooting happened overnight Friday at a West 38th Street and Moller Road strip mall. Ironically, Angel would have usually been hanging out with Jason, but decided to stay out late Friday night.

"I dropped him off for school yesterday. He said 'I will meet you later,'" said Ramirez, "I wished he would have come to my house instead of going out at night."

Just like officers at IMPD, Jason wants the shooter held responsible, especially since Angel's family and friends had to start a Go Fund Me Page with hopes of giving him a proper burial.

“We are not really in good shape right now with the money," Ramirez said.

If you have any information about the shooter in this case call crime stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
