GREENE COUNTY, Ind. — The Greene County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an inmate at the Greene County Jail.
On Thursday, April 18, 42-year-old Lea Pfaff, of Bloomfield, suffered an "unknown medical event" while in custody at the Greene County Jail. According to police, life-saving measures were taken by jail staff.
Police contacted an ambulance, and Pfaff was transported to the Greene County General Hospital before later being transported to an Evansville hospital for additional treatment. Police said Pfaff died at the Evansville hospital later that evening.
An autopsy was scheduled April 19.
According to online court records, Pfaff was being held on charges of felony criminal recklessness, as well as misdemeanor criminal mischief.
