AVON, Ind. (WTHR) — Police have confirmed human remains found in northwest Indiana last month are those of a missing Avon mother.
Najah Ferrell was last seen by her fiancé and two young sons as she left for work on March 15. A man fishing near Interstate 65 in Crown Point found the remains April 8, including a human foot with a distinct tattoo.
Family members confirmed the tattoo was that of the 30-year-old mother.
Tissue from the remains were taken to the State Crime Lab for a DNA match.
Wednesday evening, police confirmed the remains were Najah Ferrell's.
Police continue to investigate Ferrell's death and encourage anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
