TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — Two people were injured, one critically, in a motorcycle crash in Tippecanoe County Sunday night.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office reported to a motorcycle crash in the 4700 block of Dayton Road around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Police said the preliminary investigation reveals a motorcycle, with a sidecar attachment, was heading south on Dayton Road when the male driver drifted to the right and hit a guardrail with the sidecar.

The motorcycle overturned, ejecting both the driver and the female passenger. Both were initially taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital. The passenger was then transferred to IU Methodist Hospital with "life-threatening injuries."

Officers noted the driver and passenger were not wearing helmets, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Sheffield Fire Department, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, Dayton Police Department and Indiana State Police responded to the crash.

Dayton Road was closed for two hours.

The crash remains under investigation by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office.
