PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WTHR) - Authorities confirmed Tuesday that Plainfield Correctional Facility Officer Joshua M. Kirk was arrested Monday night for attempted trafficking with an inmate.

A media release from the Correctional Facility indicates Kirk faces possible felony charges for dealing drugs.

Investigators were watching Kirk, who lives in Camby, after allegations that he was trafficking tobacco and drugs, and they say he admitted to trafficking with offender Charles Collins.

A personal search of Kirk found one gram of methamphetamine, and bags of K2 spice (synthetic marijuana) and loose tobacco in his car.

Kirk was arrested and jailed in Hendricks County where he faces three counts of dealing and trafficking.

Collins is serving four years for robbery and is due for release in October, 2017.
