1 hospitalized after Hancock County house fire

Investigators are looking into the cause of a house fire on Cardinal Lane in Greenfield Sept. 9, 2024.

GREENFIELD, Ind. — One person was hospitalized after a house fire in Hancock County Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 3:15 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 1000 block of Cardinal Lane, near Apple Street and East McKenzie Road. 

Responding Greenwood Fire Territory crews found heavy fire coming from a second story window. 

"Crews were able to make entry and performed an aggressive fire attack while also searching for possible victims," the agency said in a social media post. 

The fire was "quickly" brought under control and knocked out, the agency said. One person was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
