Person found dead in Shelbyville house fire

Daniel Meisberger, 44, was killed in a fire at Miller Avenue and Colescott Street in Shelbyville.

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — One person was found dead in a house fire overnight in Shelbyville, officials said.

On 11:59 p.m. Dec. 7, crews with the Shelbyville Fire Department responded to a home in the 1100 block of Parker Avenue, southeast of Miller Avenue and Colescott Street, for a report of a house fire.

Shortly after arriving, firefighters found an unresponsive male inside the home. He was  pronounced dead at the scene, the department said in a statement.

The Shelbyville County Coroner's Office identified him as Daniel Meisberger, 44, who was a resident of Shelbyville.

The cause and manner of death are under investigation with forensic autopsy scheduled for Monday morning, according to the coroner's office.

Crews brought the fire under control shortly before 12:30 a.m. Dec. 8.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

The Indiana State Fire Marshal and Shelbyville Police Department are among the agencies investigating the incident.
