66-year-old dies after hit-and-run crash on Indy's near northwest side

The crash happened around 8 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of West Kessler Boulevard North Drive and Lafayette Road.

INDIANAPOLIS — A man was killed after a hit-and-run crash on the near northwest side of Indianapolis Sunday morning. 

Just before 8 a.m. Nov. 17, IMPD said officers responded to a report of a personal injury accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of West Kessler Boulevard North Drive and Lafayette Road. 

When officers arrived, they found a man with traumatic injuries. Medics responded to the scene and took the victim to a local hospital. The victim was initially listed in critical condition, but according to a police report, the victim later died.

The Marion County Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 66-year-old James Lee Poole.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian did not stay on the scene, police said.
