Perry Township residents concerned after multiple gunshots heard throughout the week

Brigitte Willis said there have been multiple instances of shots being fired in her neighborhood.

INDIANAPOLIS — Brigitte Willis has had sleepless nights this week after hearing more than 50 gunshots in her neighborhood.

"It was about four or five different events in different locations, and our house happened to be right dead center of it," Willis said.

She and her neighbors have posted on social media about the gunfire. Many of the streets posted are in different neighborhoods, minutes from each other.

"We still don't have any answers, and we tried to ask what happened, and nobody wants to say anything," Willis said.

According to a police report, police responded to shots fired in the 8500 block of Rahke Road, near West Stop 11 and Railroad roads. This is about five minutes down the road from Willis' neighborhood. She said this instance is not the only one this week.

Willis said police have patrolled the area after the initial reports, but there needs to be more done to stop this.

"The most we can do is try to stay protected and keep our guards up," Willis said. "You don't want to end up in that situation where you are not ready for this."

13News has reached out to IMPD for more information on the neighbors' reports and have not received a response.
