INDIANAPOLIS — A student at Perry Meridian High School is under arrest following an alleged online threat.

According to a release from Perry Township Schools, on Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Perry Township Schools Police Department and Indiana State Police served a search warrant and made the arrest after being notified of an online threat that disrupted the high school.

The release states that the school district takes such threats seriously and will prosecute responsible individuals to the fullest extent of the law.

"These threats create dangerous situations when our police resources are stretched thin, heighten concern and anxiety, and completely disrupt the learning environment. In each situation a threat is made our administration, police, and staff drop everything they are doing to evaluate the incident and follow our safety protocols. This can be exhausting but it is necessary," read the release in part.

Parents and teachers are encouraged to speak with students about the importance of reporting possible threats toward the school or people at the school.

Safety concerns at Perry Township Schools can be reported by calling 317-789-3905 during school hours or 317-780-4296 after school hours.
