EDINBURGH, Ind. (WTHR) - Vice-President-elect Gov. Mike Pence will get down to business on the transition Saturday.

He spent Friday in Indiana, attending a Veterans Day ceremony at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh.

Pence kept it close to home when it came to Veterans Day ceremonies when he came here to Camp Atterbury, which, of course, is very close to Columbus where he grew up. His mom was in attendance as his motorcade arrived to give his speech on this Veterans Day.

The vice president-elect's motorcade arrived just minutes before the event was scheduled to begin. The small crowd of around 150-200 were anxious to hear him speak.

"I will say, it is humbling for me to be with you today. It's a joy to be home after a fairly busy time in our families lives," the governor shared with the audience.

He made the trip to Camp Atterbury in Johnson County, in part, because of its close proximity to his hometown of Columbus, Indiana and his supporters did not disappoint.

"I think this is one of the most wonderful days in Indiana history. It is wonderful to have Governor Pence step up to be vice president," Steven Lynch noted.

"I love the governor. I am just so happy he is vice president. I could not be happier," Kim Dwiggins added.

"Today is your day. Today is Veterans Day. All of Indiana and all of America pauses to honor your selfless and courageous service and it is my honor to be with all of you today," the governor continued.

Pence made a particular point of noting that soldiers do not fight alone. He said Indiana has a half-million veterans and is home of the fourth-largest National Guard in America.

For those who fought and returned home, he pledged better, more timely healthcare is on the way.

"Change is coming and help is on the way," Pence said.

There are a lot of questions we want to ask about like the anti-Trump demonstrations and about his now job as head of the transition team for the Trump administration, but he would take no questions on this day - this was to be a day about veterans.
