INDIANAPOLIS — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night on Indy's northwest side.
Around 9:45 p.m. Aug. 19, officers responded to a report of the crash at Cross Creek Drive and Georgetown Road, near West 56th Street.
When police arrived on scene, they found a male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. That man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
IMPD believes a driver was heading southbound onto Georgetown Road from Cross Creek Drive when they struck the pedestrian. Driver impairment is not believed to be a factor in the deadly crash, and the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with detectives, IMPD said.
The Marion County Coroner's Office is working to determine the exact cause and manner of death, and will release the identity of the victim once family is notified.
