Indianapolis charter school student handed out THC-laced gummies to others

An investigation is underway at an Indianapolis charter school, after a police report said an 11-year-old student was caught handing out THC-laced gummies.

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway at Paramount Brookside, an Indianapolis charter school, after a police report said an 11-year-old student was caught handing out THC-laced gummies

"It hurts my heart, because if one of them had picked one up and they called me, something could have happened to them," Kayley Shanklin said.

According to school officials, a student at the charter school gave a handful of students the gummies. Only one student ate a gummy.

The school told 13News other students quickly reported the student and police stepped in. The school said it only sent a notice to parents of students involved.

"I'm unaware of the situation. It's interesting, but I wouldn't put it past it in this day and age," Dejuan Johnson said.

Now, parents urge everyone to pay attention to anything kids can get their hands on.

"My kids go here and if they see something on the ground, they could have easily picked it up and you don't want anything to happen to them," Shanklin said.

The school told 13News consequences are in place, but could not go into detail.
