SPENCER, Ind. (WTHR) - In court papers, the young mother tells police that while she and the 14-year-old victim talked about having sex at school, they never engaged in a sex act. It was only one kiss. But hundreds of texts.

24-year-old Eva Wright is the fiancée of the wrestling coach at Owen Valley Middle School in Spencer.

And while the school district denies she was a manager or volunteer for the team, they say she did show up to some practices and events.

Now Wright is accused of exchanging sexually-charged text messages with a student-athlete,

It's sad, it's horrible," said Doug Means. "I don't know what to think about it, it's just not right."

Means lives across the street from the middle school where the Wright met the alleged victim three months ago.

According to court papers, Wright later told police "she did not feel very attractive and was suffering from low self-esteem and that she was craving attention she was not getting at home."

That's when she allegedly started talking with the eighth grader, leading to over 500 text messages between them in just a few days.

Court documents say the eighth grader's parents found the messages on his phone and called police.

Those alleged texts contained photos she sent him showing her breasts and photos and videos he sent her that were also of a sexual nature.

And police claim she tried to hide her trail. According to court papers, "Eva Wright was informing (the victim) that he needed to hide the pictures that she sent him and that she was going to use and install the app on her phone to help hide the pictures that he sent to her."

"I wouldn't be too happy, my kid doing something like that," said Tracy Burton.

"If it's true it's sad. I would hate to think it would happen but if it did, it's horrible," said Means.

"More adults need to be more responsible with accountability, individual principles," said Eric Burton.

And Burton and his wife say it's proof of the importance of parents checking what's on their kids cell phones.

According to court papers, the two texted about having sex at school when they could get away from the wrestling team.

Wright allegedly told police there was no sexual contact between the two but that they did kiss.

"If it's true it's sad. I would hate to think that it happened but if it did, it's horrible," said Doug Means, who lives across from the middle school,

According to court papers, Wright told police she was suffering low self-esteem and having a difficult time in her relationship with her fiancé.

In a written statement Wednesday, school district superintendent Chad S. Briggs said:

Spencer-Owen Community Schools is both saddened and alarmed by the recent news concerning our middle school wrestling program and the charges against a local patron. Our first concern is always for our students and their well-being. As a community, we put a lot of trust and have high expectations of those adults that interact with our children at school. Our parents count on us to provide a safe environment. In this instance, Ms. Wright was not an employee, volunteer, or manager. She was the girlfriend of our coach, who happened to be present at some practices and events. We have guidelines that establish expectations for the care of our children. We are reviewing this situation, as well as our protocol, in order to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. We want to encourage our parents and community members to continue communicating any concerns that arise in the future. We want to continue working together for the well-being of all students.
