INDIANAPOLIS — As the Indianapolis City Market undergoes renovations until at least 2026, one tenant has announced their relocation for 2024.
On Thursday, Downtown Indy Inc., the Department of Metropolitan Development and Indianapolis City Market announced the temporary relocation of the Original Farmers' Market to the southwest quadrant of Monument Circle.
The Original Farmers' Market, a staple of the Indianapolis City Market, will begin its new season on May 1 and run through Oct. 2. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday during the season.
“I am thrilled to reaffirm our commitment to continue hosting the longstanding Original Farmers' Market in our vibrant downtown community,” said Indianapolis City Market Corporation executive director Keisha Harrison. “This move underscores our unwavering dedication to ensuring access to fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and locally crafted sundry items, while fostering community spirit and supporting our local economy.”
In 2022, Indy DMD announced the City Market East project. It will include the conversion of the 20-story Gold Building into 350 apartments, construction of an 11-story apartment tower on the east wing of the campus, a public plaza on the west wing of the campus and upgrades to the office tower at 251 E. Ohio St.
