1 dead after house fire in Westfield

Firefighters arrived at the home off of Oak Ridge Road, just south of State Road 32, around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

WESTFIELD, Ind. — One person is dead after a house fire Thursday morning in the 600 block of East Pine Ridge Drive in Westfield. That's off of Oak Ridge Road south of State Road 32, in the Pine Ridge subdivision. 

Fire crews were called around 8:30 a.m. Dec. 12. While on the way, the crews learned there was someone inside the home, where smoke was pouring out of the garage. 

Crews got to work on the fire immediately and searched for the victim. A person was found and "immediately determined" to be dead. 

The Westfield Fire Department was assisted by the Noblesville and Carmel fire departments. The Hamilton County Coroner's Office will determine the cause of death and release the victim's identity. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
