NTSB releases preliminary report on school bus crash that killed 3 siblings

The National Transportation Safety Board has released their preliminary report involving the deaths of three Fulton County kids at their school bus stop.

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) – The National Transportation Safety Board has released their preliminary report involving the deaths of three Fulton County kids at their school bus stop.

The report comes out on the same day that an Indiana State Senate committee voted unanimously to support a bill making tougher penalties for people who passed stopped school buses.

The bill would suspend the driver's license for 90 days the first time someone recklessly passes a stopped school bus. It would also allow $1,000 fines against repeat offenders recorded by school bus cameras.

The driver of the Fulton County crash, Alyssa Shepherd, is now facing charges of reckless homicide and criminal recklessness.

Shepherd is accused of crashing into four kids at that bus stop. Three siblings died in that crash.

The NTSB has been looking into this crash since it happened in October. In the report, they say they are still gathering information.

The NTSB added that they are investigating two other crashes involving school bus loading and unloading in support of this investigation.

Those crashes also happened at the end of this past October in Georgia and Mississippi. Two children, ages 9 and 10, died in those crashes.
