Dog dies in northwest Indianapolis house fire

The fire was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 8100 block of North Michigan Road, just north of West 79th Street.

INDIANAPOLIS — Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that seriously damaged a house on Indianapolis' northwest side Wednesday night.

The fire was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Aug. 7 in the 8100 block of North Michigan Road, just north of West 79th Street.

The Pike Township Fire Department said responding crews found fire and smoke coming from the roof when they arrived.

Pike Township crews knocked down the fire with assistance from the Indianapolis Fire Department.

One pet dog died due to smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

No residents or firefighters were injured.
