INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Police are trying to figure out what happened when the driver of a minivan drove through a protest on Monument Circle.
The protesters said they were marching on the south side of the Circle Monday evening when the incident occurred. Police said the driver was moving through the Circle as the protesters were in the street. Some damage was done to the vehicle and the driver kept driving forward.
"This was horrific. This did not need to happen. I can't believe somebody just barreled through here. I'm talking about...people were trying to push the car. It was bad," said Mat Davis with Racial Justice Alliance.
A witness recorded video of the incident and posted it to Facebook.
Tuesday morning, police said investigators spoke to several people involved after the incident, but no arrests had been made.
Protesters said at least three people were hurt, including one person whose hand was badly cut.
The investigation is ongoing.
