"We worked to find solutions that did not involve changes to the start times. After exhausting all other options, we have decided to take these steps to ensure all students arrive home in a timely manner," district officials said in a statement.

The statement went on to blame a surge in enrollment, an increase in the number of students who need transportation, and "a significant number" of families who needed transportation but hadn't signed up before the school year started.

Families can find finalized transportation times on Skyward, the district's student communication management system, later this week.
