New Indy Art Center exhibit features art by artists impacted by gun violence

The exhibit runs until July 31 and features art made by members of the Indy Peace Fellowship to help with their grieving processes.

INDIANAPOLIS — A new art exhibit is now open in Indianapolis that features art from artists impacted by gun violence.

The exhibit opened Monday at the Indy Art Center on East 67th Street, near North College Avenue, and features art by members of the Indy Peace Fellowship as part of their "Healing Hearts" program. The goal of the program is to help provide grief support through art.

One of the art teachers says the program has a lasting impact for its members.

"It was an honor to be able to see the joy on the faces of the participants and the pride they felt in not only seeing the work here in our walls at the opening exhibition but also within the studios themselves, where they were working directly with our teaching artists and also alongside the support facilitators," said Becca Nisenbaum, director of outreach programs at the Indy Art Center.

The exhibit runs until July 31.
