CARMEL, Ind. — A new mural in a Carmel park celebrates the area's wildlife.
Christina Hollering designed and painted the mural under the Campbell Crossing Bridge at Coxhall Gardens. The painting features a green heron, a great blue heron, a great egret and a sandhill crane. Each of the birds in the mural are native to the area and can be seen at Coxhall Gardens.
"This mural is a beautiful way to celebrate the rich biodiversity of our local wildlife, and will inspire a deeper appreciation for the birds that call this area home," Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Director Chris Stice said.
Hollering, an associate professor at Herron School of Art and Design, also painted the Whispering Walls in the Children’s Garden area of the park. That work was completed last summer.
"We were very impressed with the Whispering Walls, so when she showed us the design for the bridge, we knew it would be a wonderful addition to the park, and we were on-board right away," said Mary Robinson, president of The Coxhall Guild.
Coxhall Gardens is located at West 116th Street and Towne Road in Carmel and is open to the public.
