Motorcyclist killed in Tippecanoe County crash

The crash happened around 3 p.m. Sunday about seven miles northwest of West Lafayette.

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — Police in Tippecanoe County are investigating after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon.

First responders were called to the crash shortly after 3 p.m. Feb. 11 near the intersection of Jackson Highway and West 350 North, in the area of Montmorenci, Indiana. That's about seven miles northwest of West Lafayette.

Deputies with the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office found a motorcycle and driver lying in a wooded area west of the intersection, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicated the motorcycle was traveling west on Jackson Highway when it ran off the side of the road while attempting to go around a curve. The driver was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the motorcycle, police said.

There were no witnesses to the crash, which remains under investigation.

Toxicology results are pending for the driver, whose identity will be released by the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office.
