INDIANAPOLIS — One person has died following a motorcycle crash on the south side of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon.

According to a release from IMPD, shortly before 3 p.m. on Nov. 17, officers responded to the intersection of Heathwood Drive and South Emerson Avenue, which is near Stop 11 Road and Franciscan Hospital on Indy's south side, on a report of a personal injury accident.

When officers arrived, they found a crash scene involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. IEMS arrived and transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

IMPD says the driver stayed on scene to cooperate with police.

According to a preliminary investigation, police believe the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Emerson Avenue while the vehicle was traveling southbound. The vehicle was making a left hand turn when the collision happened.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was transported for a blood draw, which is standard procedure in fatal or serious injury crashes.
