WAYNE COUNTY, INDIANA, Ind. — Indiana State Police is investigating after a Morgan County man was killed in a crash in Wayne County over the weekend.

Around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, first responders were called to the scene of the crash near the 141 mile marker on Interstate 70, roughly 10 miles west of Richmond.

A preliminary state police investigation indicated a white 2015 Ford sedan was traveling west on the interstate when the driver lost control and overcorrected before the car ran off the road. As the car entered the median, the tires got stuck in mud and the car rolled.

The driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the car, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Wayne County Coroner's Office later identified him as 56-year-old Jack Lyons, of Monrovia, Indiana.

Investigators later discovered a tire had come off the sedan and struck another car traveling eastbound on I-70. The people in that car were checked out at the scene by medics and released.

One lane of I-70 westbound was closed for around two hours during the investigation.
