More than 200 vases stolen from graves in Logansport cemetery

Police want answers after thieves target what should be a place of peace.

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WTHR) - Police want answers after thieves target what should be a place of peace.

Police say someone took over 200 bronze vases off the graves at Ever Rest Memorial Park in Logansport late last month. The missing vases were first discovered the morning of November 29.

The cemetery offers the vases as part of its Floral Placement Program. Families can have artificial flowers placed at their loved ones' graves throughout the year in vases attached to grave markers, monuments or the mausoleum.

According to our partners at the Pharos-Tribune, the same thing happened 10 years ago, when someone took nearly 50 vases from the cemetery.

Some of the stolen vases in the latest case were found in a ditch along Logansport Road. Investigators found the others at a scrap metal yard in Peru. Investigators are contacting local businesses and metal scrap yards, hoping whoever took the vases may have tried to sell them and they can get them back.
