A new 192,000-square-foot Meijer supercenter opens Tuesday at 56th Street and Keystone Avenue in Indianapolis' North Kessler neighborhood.
The doors opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
According to Meijer, the store has created 280 jobs for the area. It's one of nine new stores Meijer is opening in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Wisconsin this year.
While weekly Meijer sales at the supercenter begin when doors open Tuesday, the retailer will also feature special promotions and events to commemorate the store's grand opening celebration beginning June 9. Some of the fun June 9 includes product giveaways, $10-500 shopping spree prizes and mystery gift cards for the first 200 customers after 6 a.m.
The new store is located on a busy stretch of road at 56th and Keystone.
When construction plans were announced, neighbors were initially concerned about traffic flow.
