The 48-page plan was created by the community, for the community, and focuses on 10 pillars, including education, public safety and housing.

INDIANAPOLIS — Right now, community members in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood on the near northeast side of Indianapolis are looking at ways to improve the quality of life for residents.

Neighbors joined city leaders at the Frederick Douglass Park Family Center for a town hall Saturday morning, discussing feedback on the 48-page "Quality of Life Implementation Plan."

The plan was created by the community, for the community, and focuses on 10 pillars, including education, public safety and housing.

13News spoke with some residents, said having affordable housing is a must.

"How can we keep our residents here but also with an affordable housing, either home ownership or rentals?" Immanuel Ivey said.

Leaders said the neighborhood will work to get the plan certified by the city this year.

Once approved, it would be in place through 2030.
