INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Prosecutor's Office is accepting applications for a program that will offer 15- to 18-year-olds a chance to provide direct input on efforts aimed at youth violence prevention.
Marion County youth can apply for the 2024 Youth Violence Prevention Fellowship through May 13, a prosecutor's spokesperson said Wednesday.
“The prosecutor’s office recognizes the need for young people’s participation and input in crime prevention. Now more than ever, the commitment of local youth to share their ideas on how we can proactively reduce youth violence in our city should be fostered and rewarded," Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a statement.
The paid opportunity gives youth access to resources of the prosecutor's office and participants will interact with "elected officials, community leaders, and subject matter experts," according to the spokesperson.
The program will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday between July 9 and July 25.
"This program also invites the fellows to research, design and share their own strategies regarding youth violence prevention," according to a release from the office.
